Hello and welcome back to my blog!
If this is your first time, welcome!
My name is Sam and I write everything about lifestyle.
I have recently started to pick up reading and wanted to talk about various books I've read.
Thus, I wanted to launch a series called "Sam Reads," where I read various books and talk about it.
Kicking off this series, the first book I want to introduce is The Mysterious Bakery on Rue de Paris by Evie Woods. The cover of the book describes the author as a million copy bestselling author but I've never heard of her until I picked up this book.
This book is about a young woman who decides to find another meaning to her life and starts her journey in a different country.
The book starts with the main character Edith, or Edie, who is a young Irish woman who decides to make a decision to leave her home and start a new life in Paris. She sees a recruitment poster that said they hire someone whose first language was English from a local bakery in Paris. She immediately makes a decision to apply there and gets a job. Despite what was said in the poster, she ends up in a town called Compiegne, which is outside of Paris. There, she meets a woman and a young boy who runs a local bakery. Madame Moreau, the owner of the bakery guards some kind of secret that Edie always wondered about and Manu, a young delivery boy was always going to places delivering all those breads to the community. The story is centered around these three individuals as Edie gets to meet the local customers.
What I really liked about the book is that it made me immerse myself into this interesting magic. Edie was a character that I admired while reading this book. She is such a brave soul for making such decision and being such a positive influence on someone's life. She makes a decision to leave her home and starts a new life in a different country and that was something that I think I have in common with her. I made a decision to leave my friends and family back in Korea and left to the United States. Everything was so different and I had no idea what was to come. I gradually got used to my new environment and new school. I always wanted to make something out of that decision and I always thought about what was the best thing I have gained throughout my life in the United States. I then realized that it was the community that shaped me to become who I am. Even though I was in two different states for high school and college, the local community was something that I really loved. Throughout this book, I realized the importance of local communities. No matter where you go in your life, the community would be something that you gain from it.
The main theme of this book is the community. No matter how big or small, the community is something that will always stick around. When Edie got to meet the people in the area, she realized that she wanted to stick around longer and spend more time in Compiegne than she expected. Even if she felt like this might have been a mistake, the people started to change her perspectives.
Overall, I highly recommend this book, as I felt like I was in that magical world and the more I read this book, the more I was into it.
