Recently, HBO Max released the trailer for the new Harry Potter TV series.

As someone who grew up reading all seven Harry Potter books and watching all eight movies, I knew I needed to step in and watch the trailer.

The Harry Potter series was the first series of books that I've ever read until the final book, and I fell in love with the world of magic. And I also watched all 8 movies. (Yes. 8, as the final series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is divided into 2 parts.) As someone who has watched all the movies, I have very high expectations for how the TV show should be portrayed.

When a book series is adapted into a movie, there are always limitations. All the small details may be deleted from the books during the process of making the script, or they would write the screenplay as some character did this, which is very different from the book. (I will not add the details on what scenes were changed in the movies to prevent spoilers)

When I first watched the trailer of the new series, I was really excited to see the backstories that the movies didn't portray. I always wondered what life for young Harry would've been like before he went to Hogwarts. Although the book portrayed this part somewhat, the first movie didn't include the details of Harry's life before Hogwarts. When I saw the trailer included that backstory, I was really excited to see how it would be portrayed in the TV series.

Regarding the cast of the new series, I heard a series of concerns about certain cast members, especially Professor Snape. They cast Papaa Essiedu as Professor Snape. However, many fans were upset that a black actor was cast in the role. To be honest, I didn't care that much about who plays which character, as long as they do their job right. However, when I saw the trailer, I became curious about the show's direction, particularly the casting of Snape as black. My concern was the future series, where Snape's flashback might appear and Harry's father, James, bullies him, which may raise concerns about racism.

Aside from concerns about the cast, the most important part of the story is the three main characters: Harry, Ron, and Hermione. When I saw the announcement, I got really excited. The three of them were so cute together, and I was really excited about how they would portray the three iconic roles of the fantasy series. When I saw the trailer, their chemistry stood out. The three of them were genuinely great friends, and I am so excited about how this next generation of Harry, Ron, and Hermione will lead the series.

Harry Potter was and always will be a part of my childhood, and the new Harry Potter made me really excited, as HBO Max is recreating my childhood. It honestly made me a bit old when I asked the youngsters if they knew Harry Potter or had ever watched it. A lot of the answers I heard were no, which made me feel old and a bit sad, knowing that the younger generation wouldn't know this legendary series. However, with the new TV series being made, I am really excited that the younger generation will get to know this legendary series as they grow up, and I am also excited to see how the new child actors will grow up.

If anyone has never watched the trailer, I have attached the YouTube link below:
